Bigsby & Tune-o-matic Tuning Tip

Here’s a great tip on how to help keep those guitars in tune that have a Bigsby & a Tune-o-matic bridge. The strings can sometimes get hung up in the saddles and this easy mod can really help. I would not do this mod to an original vintage ABR-1 however. Get a good replacement if you have a vintage instrument. Please feel free to contact me with any questions…….I’m serious, email me I will help if I can!!!

Hi Curtis- Check this video on re-stringing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Vugtt75oDE There are two parts btw. The section where I show how to run strings through the tailpiece is the part to pay attention to. This allows you to screw the tailpiece all the way down and the break angle from the tailpiece over the bridge saddles will be better. Check it out and let me know if you have any more questions. You can email me from the site if you like. I am happy to help!!!!

What would be the best bridge to stay in tune with a B6 Bigsby?

Daniel- Thanks for visiting 300guitars..!! I think you could get a Bigsby equipped guitar to stay in tune with a regular tune-o-matic. I believe that Schaller makes a tune-o-matic type bridge with roller saddles that may be a bit better.. I think most tuning problems come from the nut and not the bridge. You have to make sure that the nut is cut properly and the slots are lubricated so the strings slide through easily. -Billy
