Unsafe Repair Practice

This is a very unsafe filter cap replacement repair on a vintage blackface Princeton Reverb amplifier. The capacitors are not securely mounted to the chassis. The heat shrink splices pulled off very easily and could have shorted inside the chassis. The amplifier also had a hum because there is no center tap for the filament supply so I created one with 2- 100 ohm resistors which is standard practice. Both transformers were replaced at one time so the person performing the work was probably unaware of this. After a complete cap job and service the amp sounds very good….how can you go wrong with a Fender Princeton Reverb, right?

This is the corrected repair. Much safer!
