I just had a visit from Brian Fallon of the Gaslight Anthem. He brought me his latest acquisition: a 1964 Vox AC30. It’s a non-Top Boost “Treble” model. This amp was basically untouched with everything looking to be original. I did a cap job and converted it from Treble specs to Normal specs. The Treble model has some extra treble bypass (bright caps) in the circuit giving the amp a very bright and chimey tone. After converting it to the Normal specs it sounded much fuller but still retained all the nice “Voxey” chime. In the end it sounded awesome. Beatles anyone? Yeah, yeah, yeah!!
