While I was at the 2010 NAMM Show I had the pleasure of meeting Juha Ruokangas of Ruokangas guitars. I am a big fan of Juha’s work and it was an absolute thrill for me to meet him and spend some time talking.
One of the most interesting stories he told me was about the material he uses to make the nuts for his guitars from. It is a lot of work to get this material but he feels that it is an integral parts of his guitar building. The material is Moose shin bone!!
In this short article Juha explains how he gets the material, how he processes it and what exaclty the benefits are. I played his guitars at the NAMM show and I can tell you whatever he is doing works!!! His guitars sound, play and feel unbelievable!!
