Gibson Raided by Federal Agents for Illegal Rosewood!!

According to the Nasville Post the Gibson Guitars production facility on Massman Road in Nashville, TN was raided by federal agents on Tuesday November, 17. The facility was raided and is under investigation for violating the Lacey Act which is an environmental law to protect against importing endangered species of rosewood from Madagascar.

Gibson has issued a statement saying that they are fully cooperating with federal agents in the investigation of the harvested wood. Gibson purchases wood from legal suppliers who are supposed to follow legal standards. Henry Juszkiewicz, Gibson Guitar Chairman and CEO  sits on the board of the Rainforest Alliance and takes the issue of certification very seriously. Gibson Guitars will continue to cooperate fully and assist federal agents with the investigation.
