Fender Stratocaster 5-Way Switch Demo

I’ve been getting some emails from younger, first time electric guitar buyers asking about the 5-way switches on Fender Stratocaster guitars. Rather than write an article I thought it would be best to do a quick video demonstration. This video also pertains to other guitar brands with three pickups (whether they be single coil, humbuckers or a combination of the two) and a 5-way switch. I hope this helps some of you guys out!

Please leave comments or send me some email about this video.

thank you so much! I have played acoustic guitar for the past 5 years. Got my first electric 1 week ago and was searching for this kind of clarity. Trial and error only takes you just so far. Please let me know if there is other information like this on playing the fender, and useful amp settings–I have the fender 15 watt amp.

    Thank you again

Billy. Sadly I don’t fit the “young” part of your description, but nevertheless got my first Strat for Christmas (2004 MIM) after a year learning on acoustic. Your explanation was exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.

  • Allison Wong

  • This is exactly the sort of info I have been looking for….  do it your self teaching is fun but frustrating.
