Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers performed a four song set during halftime of Superbowl XLII. Opening the set was “American Girl” followed by “I Won’t Back Down”, “Free Falling” and Running Down A Dream”. Fender and Rickenbacker guitars were prominently represented as well as Vox amplification. Mike Campbell weilded his Duesenberg DMC TV Signature model as well as his Ferrington double neck guitar. Petty’s career spans 3 decades and he has influenced song writers and guitarists alike. The band’s 2008 tour kicks off on May 30th in Michigan and ends August 29th in Texas.
